This week I had the pleasure of visiting Emmaus Sheffield. It’s only a short walk from the train station but in true form I got lost in the middle of an industrial estate – thank you Google maps….!
The community and shop are set in the former cutlery factory, Sipelia Works, on the side of the canal. It’s a grade 2 listed building, which was lovingly restored by the community.
The shop is full of furniture, art work, bric-a-brac. clothes and more – it really is a little treasure trove. As you walk in you’re greeted by the friendly companions and staff and then in the court-yard they house two goats and rabbits! You can watch the two goats on a 24 hour live cam – it’s addictive I warn you. All the companions and staff care for the goats and I’ve never seen such well looked after animals – they are truly loved by the community.
I of course bought a few things over the two days I was there. A really cool retro Coca-Cola sign, a pair of shoes, a bag and dress. If you’re ever up that way pop in, and the team have a fantastic eBay site for you to browse – so get shopping and support Emmaus Sheffield.
Here’s some pics from my trip:
