Vintage shop snoop: Magdalen Market

East Oxford has some exciting things happening.

Last week, I noticed the new shop which has opened on Maggie Road, Wild Honey. It’s an organic health store and yoga studio. It’s selling a range of chocolate, honey, bread, snacks and more. Seems like a really nice fit for the street and will compliment the Veg Van, which visits the Rusty Bike every Thursday (love the squashes from these peeps!). I haven’t had a good nose around yet but here are some photo’s from Wild Honey’s Facebook page, give them a follow.

Another addition to East Oxford is the Magdalen Market, held once a month on a Saturday at the Magdalen Arms pub.

It’s a vintage and flea market, hosting an array of sellers from fashion to homewares, flowers to hand-made goods. This Saturday I went to have a look around, I first noticed the lovely Christmas trees and pines from Mad About Flowers. There was then a range of 1970s style clocks and phones mixed in with some 1960s annuals – I used to always get the Beano annual and still hope each year it will arrive in my Christmas stocking.

Vintage and second hand crockery and glass featured quite a lot. I love buying quirky little pieces like this, I swear nothing matches in my house!

The folks from Old Made were on site with their fab range of goods. I had a quick chat with Kate in between shoppers snapping up their goods.

There are cute little touches throughout the garden of the Maggie for the market, I loved the home-made bunting and their was definitely a family feel with kids, mums and grandparents all having a mooch.

As always, I was drawn towards the clothes…. There was a rail of random ASOS stuff but thankfully this rail of vintage saved the day. I’d like to see a few more clothes stalls at the market and hopefully coming into the Summer months next year, the sun and tea dresses will be out in force for shoppers.

I thoroughly enjoyed the market and recommend a visit. The next ones are in 2015 – February 14th, March 14th and April 11th.
