I’m very excited to announce that I’ll soon be taking up the role of retail manager at Emmaus Oxford.
Emmaus is a charity which supports homeless people. They don’t just offer a bed for the night, they offer a home for as long as someone needs it, as well as meaningful work in their social enterprises. All of this plays an important role in restoring self-esteem and helping people to find a way to overcome homelessness in the long term.
There are around 60 Emmaus shops in the UK and the focus is on selling furniture, recycling and upcycling. Each Emmaus is individual – for instance the Emmaus in Brighton has a garden shop, some have cafes some are MASSIVE, some are small.
Emmaus in Oxford currently supports around 28 people and has two charity shops – one in Marston and the other at Templars Square (pic above). I’ll be launching its new super store on Barns Road and looking after the social enterprise activities.
Check out the new shop below……! Yes, it’s huuuugggeeeeee.
I’m very excited to be joining the team after an amazing three years at Oxfam. First as digital & events coordinator in the trading department and then as shop marketing manager.
I’ve done some amazing things and met some great people. From muddy festivals to vintage shop pop ups in London, to travelling round the country to go to shop area meetings. It’s been a blast.
Stay tuned for my Emmaus updates and if you live in Oxford – please come and visit Emmaus and the new super store when it opens later this year. And if you think you could be the next Oxfam shops’ marketing manager – here is the advert*
It closes on February 22nd, so be quick charity shop fans!
*You must love cake and vintage……
