For the next two weeks Oxford will be celebrating a range of art and culture in venues throughout the city.
The MCS Arts Festival Oxford is taking place from June 20 – July 5 and aims to offer creative and cultural experiences for Oxford’s diverse communities.
The festival has been around for seven years and this year’s programme offers an exciting array of music, art, drama, dance, film, speaker events, workshops, literature, entertainment and much more.
Some of my highlights of what to see or do are:
Linocutting – 28th June
Local artist Simon East from the Oxford Printmakers’ Co-operative will give an introduction to printmaking methods. Sketch and carve your own lino block designs to print and take home.
Time: 14.00 – 17.00
Tickets: £30 (14+)
Sketching in the Cast Gallery – 28th June
An afternoon of sketching in the Ashmolean’s Lower Cast Gallery.
Time: 14.30 – 16.30
Venue: Ashmolean Museum
Practical Photography: Looking at Light – 25th June
A practical workshop to explore the properties of light in photography.
Time: 16.00 – 17.30
I have veered towards the more arty stuff but take a look and see what you could do over this celebration of art & culture in Oxford.
