I took a stroll down Cowley Road and was pleased to see two new independent shops had opened up.
Inky Fingers sells a range of comics, graphic novels, art books and more – as well as some snacks and drinks. A place to read, chill and shop.
The next new gaff is The Bear & The Bean. I love the art work on the front and inside is a range of gifts, cameras and coffee. A lovely new addition to the road.
Could I stay away from the charity and vintage shops though? Never!
This week I visited the Barnardos shop and Reign on Cowley Road and also made the journey to Headington to go to the Cancer Research shops looking for vintage gems. There are some lovely summer dresses out at the moment and an array of patterns. Here are some of my faves from the shops.
There are two Cancer Research shops in Headington. One is what I would call a ‘super saver’ shop – all the items are low-priced and there are tonnes of stock. The other is full of quality high street and vintage pieces. I loved the pink print on this 60s style dress and I’m a sucker for an 80s power piece. I quite liked how the window was blue/purple themed to match Cancer Research’s brand colours.
Reign on Cowley Road is a trendy shop and I though these mannequins in the window were very summer inspired.
Last up, Barnardos on Cowley Road had some new vintage pieces. I particularly loved the red dress and the long silver number. The section is now to the left of the door and a little hidden away but it’s still regularly stocked up and well worth a route through.
Lots of items to be found this summer in Oxford’s vintage and charity shops – get out shopping, pick up some new bits and support your local charity shops.
