2016 is set to be a great year in Oxford and I’ve scoped out some of things I want to do and see – from vintage clothing to art. As much as I love sitting in my onesie with a gin… this year I plan to get out and about more and explore Oxford. It’ll be my fourth year here and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone.
I’ve done and seen most of what Oxford has to offer but the one most Oxford thing in the world I haven’t done is go punting so this year I will be getting my punt on and visiting the below:
Mallams Oxford Vintage auction return this year.
It on Wednesday 24 February 2016 and will feature a range of jewellery, accessories and fashion. I attended the preview evening of the exhibition in 2014 just when I first started this blog :). I’ll be keeping my eye on this one and with two weddings to attend this year I might find my perfect dress.
This year Modern Art Oxford celebrates 50 years and is launching a new exhibition in February called KALEIDOSCOPE.
This will celebrating 50 inspirational years of the gallery and is a year long series of exhibitions, performances and events reflecting on some of the great moments in it’s history. There will be so much to see and do with iconic works returning to the gallery form artists such as Maria Loboda, Richard Long, Gustav Metzger, Gareth Nyandoro, Yoko Ono and Hardeep Pandha.
Also, a shout out to the MAO shop – it has some great pieces and you can shop in store or on-line. I love this Kaleidoscope sketch pad £6 and this Gin necklace by Gilbert & George £35 (if my boyfriend’s reading this…. *hint hint*)
The Ashmolean hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year and the one I would like to attend this year is Warhol Late (10 March, 6.30pm).
The event is a late night opening, which will see a mix of live music, pop-up films, silent discos, DJs, and lots more. #cantwait
It’s a celebration of the forthcoming exhibition at the museum – *SOOOOOO EXCITED* I’m a major fan of this period and style so will definitely be popping in to see.
I unfortunately couldn’t make the last one but will try my best to get along to this. It’s on 12pm-5pm on the 30th Jan. Some super vintage bargains to be had I’m sure.
These are my top thing to see or do in Oxford this year – what are yours?
