December Magdalen Market in East Oxford

This week I’ve rocked my new vintage Christmas cardie to work, put my tree up and near enough spent all of my wages on presents and it’s only December 4th. Although I’m a total Summer baby, December is such a lovely month as you make time to see the people you love and send messages and speak to friends near and far.

The Magdalen Market was a bumper special, chocker blocker with stalls and even some out in the car park. It featured florists, hand made cushions, bric-a-brac, children’s clothes, Annie Sloan paint and vintage clothing, homewares.

It was a crisp and sharp morning and I heard one stall holder mention how cold their fingers were pricing the items. Market+Winter= fingerless gloves.

My first job was on a market stall in Liverpool selling underwear, gifts and random bits. It was my Mum and Dad’s friend’s stall and I was a shy mouse when I started. Three years in I was cracking jokes, selling and chatting away  – I will always love the interaction of markets.

After the market I nipped into see Rosie’s shop ‘A Rosie Life‘ in Oxford’s covered market. Rosie is known for her love of pink and pom poms and her shop lives up to that x 10. It has a range of hand picked gifts from Ohh Deer notepads to artisan crockery  – if you’re looking for a crafty gift it’s definitely worth checking out.

Here’s some photos from the day. Where will you be gift buying this season?

  1. This is a brilliant blog post. Magdalen Market looks amazing. I love going along to vintage markets in general and try to keep an eye on when they’re on near my area. However it can be tricky to find genuine vintage items in vintage fairs, so I find it’s worth going early or during a quieter period so that you have plenty of opportunity to browse and find the real gems. Looks like you found some lovely items though!
